From Coast to Coast, IAP Reaches Out to Support Families in Need
Cape Canaveral, FL — Employees throughout IAP have demonstrated true service to others by reaching out to help fill critical needs in their local communities. Whether a donation of time or a monetary gift, IAP values each contribution and is proud to support its teams’ efforts.
At IAP’s Patuxent River Naval Air Station project in Maryland, employees raised over $600 to support a toy drive for The Center for Children, a non-profit program dedicated to the treatment and prevention of child abuse. Additionally, employees raised over $600 to support the Southern Maryland Food Bank which provides food to pantries, group homes, soup kitchens and shelters throughout the area.
IAP employees at NASA Ames in Northern California participated in the Family Giving Tree program, which fulfilled the wishes of 62,000 needy children in the Bay Area this past holiday season. “Our team envisions a world where all children feel like a valuable part of their community, and the response of our employees was overwhelming,” said Jane McFadden, Human Resources Manager at IAP’s project. “In less than two weeks, every wish card and donation envelope on our tree was filled.” Employees also supported the Harvest Food Bank, providing nourishment to people in need.
Back on the East Coast, employees at IAP’s corporate headquarters in Cape Canaveral, Florida dug deep to support a variety of educational and health-related charities. The company and employee contributions for United Way, for instance, totaled over $60,000. For the past 14 years, employees here have contributed more than $90,000 to purchase toys and clothing for children in foster care. Recently, the company also donated over $3,000 to the Brevard Schools Foundation to provide over 1,100 weekend healthy food packets to needy children for the remainder of the school year.
In a contribution of their time and hearts, employees from IAP’s Patent and Trademark Support project in Washington, DC participated by donating and laying wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery this past December. In total, over 15,000 people took part in the Wreaths Across America program, laying 90,000 wreaths to honor our country’s veterans.
“We feel a responsibility to help support the communities where we live and work,” says Barbara Jerich, Vice President of Human Resources. “With projects spread around the country and the world, it’s wonderful to see how our employees combine their on-the-job efforts with their volunteering accomplishments to make real differences in the lives of so many.” She adds, “And since our commitment to social responsibility is a facet of our company culture, we believe it aids us in the hiring and retention of our talented workforce.”
