Ed is Professor of the Practice Emeritus at Brandeis University’s International Business School, where he held the Earle W. Kazis chair in finance and international real estate from 2005 until his retirement in June 2023. He co-founded and chaired the undergraduate business program for nine years and founded the graduate school’s real estate specialization.
Ed is currently on the advisory board of Brightwood Capital, which he first joined in 2013. Ed has served on the IAP, SuperMedia, and Churchill Financial boards. He also served as the Independent Investment Professional for the offshore senior loan funds of Churchill Asset Management.
Capping a 23-year career from 1979 to 2002, Ed was EVP and Chief Credit Officer for Fleet Bank and its predecessor institution, BankBoston. In that capacity at both institutions, he chaired the senior loan and country exposure committees and had the highest individual signing authority.
Ed holds an M.I.A from Columbia University where he specialized in banking and finance.
Mr. Arden is currently a private investor who has spent over thirty years focused on investments in the high yield market both domestically and abroad. During his career he has participated in numerous restructurings and has served on multiple boards of directors as the lead investor in the post reorganized corporation.
His career began at Arthur Andersen in 1989. He then spent over twenty years in the investment divisions of Angelo Gordon & Company, CCMP Capital, and Black Diamond Capital Management.
He holds a BA from Northwestern University as well as an MBA from Columbia University.
